Busy in Beaverton

Image
I am having a lovely housesitting experience in Beaverton, Oregon.   There are 3 kittens and the mama cat in a crate in a bedroom usually dedicated to grandchildren. They are being cared for as foster cats until the kittens get old enough to get adopted. I got scratched by the feral mother cat for trying to toss some treats her way. The scratch is pretty well healed two days later but at least it made me stop worrying about COVID-19 and instead I worried about cat scratch fever!  Did you know cat scratch fever is ca used by bacteria transmitted from cat to cat by fleas and humans risk contracting the disease by kissing or nuzzling cats, or by being scratched or bitten? How can you not nuzzle a kitten especially when you are as starved for nuzzling as so many of us singletons are these days? I take comfort in the statistics: " The study, which took place over eight years and surveyed over 13,000 cases of cat-scratch disease, found the annual incidence of the disease was 4....

Dance! Go crazy!

Have you heard of Dance Church? I read about it in the newspaper but I had already heard about it from Facebook. It's fun! Of course, it's like being gluten free, in these days of lockdown: you have to lower your standards (of fun or of tasty food). In my case, I am dancing by myself, trying to follow what the 3 young people are doing on the screen. Even at my age, I can pretty much keep up. There are over 2,000 people around the world dancing (we presume) with the man and two women. They are definitely not clothed for sexual titillation.  Though you can never assume anything when it comes to that! It's exercise and it's dancing. They don't see you. Just go crazy! I am not crazy about the music but I am oldish. Is it called EDM? I'm not even sure. Anyway, it IS live, so it's not Youtube. If you need a break from Jane Fonda aerobic videos on YouTube, try Dance Church! Or Ecstatic Dance, live from Facebook, where you can turn your video on.  Donati...

Topsy turvey world

Pre-covid19  I couldn't have people in my house, especially men, because Darcy the dog was aggressive with mail carriers or repair people (she definitely did NOT like a man in a uniform). and now Post COVID-19 I can't have the people in my house because of the aggressive virus. Darcy has been replaced by a virus. --‐---------------- Pre COVID-19 I was planning to have lots of strangers staying in my house as an Airbnb. I bought new sheets, new towels, did some repairs, etc. Post COVID-19 It is just me in my house (rather, in my part of the house). I am enjoying new sheets and blankets and plush towels. ------------------ Pre COVID-19 I did a lot of genealogy research so I could meet my relatives in Ireland the the U.K. and know their relation to me. Post COVID-19 I have temporarily lost interest in Ancestry work. Relatives seem very far away with all this uncertainty.  We don't even know if we'll be able to buy asparagus, much less travel safely...
