Can hand washing be wrong?

Image
Can hand washing be controversial, like wearing masks are? Wash your hands for 20 seconds, how can that be wrong?  But in the 1850s it could get you put in a mental asylum. Dr. Semmelweis  found that there were 2 clinics (Hungary) and in the first the mortality rate was 10% and in the 2nd it was much lower. Why? What he found was that in the first clinic, being a teaching hospital, the doctors had cadaver material on their hands and didn't wash their hands in between patients. They were insulted when Semmelweis said they needed to wash their hands because, after all, they were "gentlemen". This was such crazy talk that he was discounted and humiliated and eventually put in an asylum where he died 2 weeks later of gangrene, probably from being beaten by guards. He was only 47 years old. Even his wife thought he had become mentally ill. I have to admit I used to do a crappy job washing my hands. Now I know how to do the job properly; now we all know, not just the germaphobe...

Third B housesit

I am in Bellingham at my third housesit. They are already starting to blend together. They have all had 50 to 60 year old white couples with very nice homes. Do people of color get housesitters through the websites? Two have had hot tubs. Two have had cats, two have had a dog.  The obvious answer is that I am picking certain housesitting opportunities.  Bainbridge Island,  Beaverton,  Bellingham,  do you see a common element? You're right, I will only housesit in cities/towns that begin with the letter "b". So next is Bellevue? Do dogs always have a problem, or something that is a problem for the owners or walkers? Tofino was actually pretty problem free except for the constant gunk coming out of his eyes. Django is aggressive with other dogs which is a major pain, especially in a pandemic. I have to worry about getting too close to another dog owner because of Django's aggression AND because of social distancing. On the other hand he is very friendly to people...
