Guilty!

I'm guilty...
I'm guilty of passing on dubious recommendations for dealing with Coronavirus. It was from my cousin who I trust and it was an audio recording.  It mentioned being on an island and translating it from Spanish but who knows who made it, where it came from! I spent the time to transcribe it, thinking I was somehow privileged to get these wise thoughts early on. Gargle every 20 minutes with warm water was the one you probably heard. When you come into your house take a shower and wash your clothes.  That was back when I thought it was okay to have a couple friends come into my house and I wondered how I was going to wash their clothes!

I am guilty of scoffing at people who seemed overly cautious. I am still sometimes guilty of that but we are all learning and we all have different degrees of fear. I have never been a germaphobe but am becoming one! But I don't spray down every package I bring into the house; I still touch books in the Little Libraries. I do the obvious, what the CDC and others recommend: washing your hands for 20 seconds,  using hand sanitizer if you can't wash your hands, wearing a mask in stores and, of course,  keeping a physical distance of at least 6 ft.
I am grateful I have had the luxury of only starting to do these things with this pandemic: some people have always had to do these things because of their compromised immune system. (https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5e6a6acfc5b6dda30fc51c2f/amp)

I'm guilty of saying it was just a little flu and thinking I would be fine, despite being "elderly" or of an advanced age. Is that over 60 or 65 or 70? I have heard all those ages but prefer to think it's over 75 or 80 because those ages are still a bit distant!

  1. Yes, we're all guilty of entertaining slightly incorrect info about covid. The warm water gargling thing got me, too - I was gargling once a day with salt water. Thanks for making me laugh at the thought of laundering the clothes of your houseguests.

    1. Gargling only once a day? I read you had to gargle every 20 minutes. That will keep you busy!
