Day 2 of tour

Good weather (a wee windy but mostly sunny) and some interesting sites including a chance to feed sheep, horses, goats and a donkey!

A nice omelet and fruit salad (and tea, of course) at my hotel.

Near Brandon Creek named for St Brendan the Navigator,
Born 484. Supposedly went from this area to North America with some monks about 558 and it took 7 years!

View at the Dun Beag Fort, 500BC-400AD

A sheep who escaped the fenced area in search of pellets at Slea Head Famine Cottages. You pay 3 euro to see the cottages and feed the animals.

1 million die
1.5 million leave Ireland
Paul, our guide, spent time as a child in similar "cottages" (without electricity and plumbing) with his grandparents

the Gallarus Oratory, c900-1000

Ending in my fanciest (i.e., most expensive) dinner with the "girls" at the Boatyard Restaurant (in Dingle)

  1. Looks like this trip is suiting you just fine! Beauty, adventure, tasty food, toasts, and a little sarcasm.
