Hill walking in Ox Mountains

Hill walking day! Nice weather today (i.e., no rain) and only four of us, a man from the Netherlands who has been in Ireland for 42 years and a younger Irish woman who is a secondary school teacher near here, Mary and me.

We just went out the door of Mary's cottage (which is over 100 years old) so no driving was necessary, a nice change since the narrow roads and "wrong" side of the road are still a bit nerve-wracking.

The Ox Mountains are also known as the St Patrick Mountains after the saint who built churches on its slopes and left his name to some of its wells.

We walked over 18,000 steps! Lots of  bogs and peat. And pretty scenes and views and flowers.

Back to Mary's for tea and "biscuits" (kind of a Kit Kat bar called Club Milk, made by Jacob's like almost all desserts here).
