Another 10,000 steps in Waterford

I got a late start and guess who was at the bus stop: the same woman as yesterday.  And I thought it was a small world yesterday when I saw her during my tour! Her name is Sue and we went to the Granville Hotel for tea and scones. Although it was very pretty and I had a nice time, the scones were not very good, very crumbly!

After a trek across the busy bridge to buy my train ticket to Dublin (trouble buying online when I haven't had any problem up until now), I went to the Waterford Gallery of Art.

They kicked me out so they could have lunch but I went across the street to the Garter Arts Centre and found out it had been a Quaker Meeting House until 1960! And then a court house and prison, now a gallery and theatre.

When I returned the young woman who asked me to leave was playing a video that included an interview with a woman who used to attend that meeting for worship!

Next was the Franciscan Friary. An employee of the Office of Public Works opens it at 3:00 every day and is knowledgeable.

Next door was the Museum of Time. The volunteer guide and the employee had a lot to say. I was interested enough for at least 45 minutes. I liked the watches and clocks from my early days best but the grandfather clocks were gorgeous, too!

I wasn't very happy about this picture or cartoon of the ignorant Irish man they had posted but I guess if they aren't offended...

After tapas at La Bonita where I got to speak Spanish to the server from Argentina was the Waterford Crystal store. Or museum? They were about to close but 15 minutes was enough for me. Do you think they can be played?

Bus home, no chatting, many students from Spain (or so the server Clara from La Bonita told me) and I got off at the right stop!
