Waterford, Ireland's oldest city (914)
And Waterford is the third oldest city in Europe after Paris and London!
Yesterday, Wednesday, I had a nice chat with a local woman about my age who was going into Waterford to go to thrift stores. She told me about buying a jade necklace for 2 euros that the employee said was plastic. Your woman knew better and sold it to a Chinese man for 1800 euros. She was kind enough to give back half of that to the charity shop she bought it from.
I went on a walking tour for an hour starting from the beautiful Granville Hotel. Almost everyone was on a tour group with RIT, Royal Irish Tours.

James Rice, mayor of Waterford 8 times (Jack said the sign saying he was mayor 11 times is wrong), buried here in an unusual way, a bit gruesome!
Gorgeous carved tree done by one man, John Hayes, in one month! And it has fungi growing on it! They call it the Dragonslayer's Sword. Blackfriars Dominican chapel behind the sword.
After the tour I went to the Medieval Museum and the Silver Museum next door. I was so tired and had almost fallen on uneven medieval stairs but I pushed on and went to climb up Reginald Tower which exhausted me!
From the Medieval Museum:
Beautiful silver coffee pot!
Can you imagine, having chocolate in the morning with egg yolks and bread crumbs? Yecch! From the Reginald Tower (which had sent all its Viking collection to Dublin for maintenance so this museum didn't take long and was free):
* I examined the spoons at the house in Tramore and they seem pretty much like ours! Other places I have been just had the tiny spoon and the tablespoon, I swear!
Lastly, some interesting facts about Waterford:
