Home again!

I am back home! My house looks nice but small.  It is so nice to use my electric toothbrush again! And my bed and pillow and silly stuff like my big white mug! Knowing how the train works! Though a part of SEA airport was new and  unfamiliar to me.

I am on Iceland time so I got home about 7 pm and went to sleep an hour later and woke up very early.

Yesterday in the morning I walked 15 minutes (but gingerly since the sidewalks were slippery)  to the Perlan Center in Reykjavik and had a nice few hours there. They have a great planetarium where you can see the Northern Lights without any problem (or iPhone) and a video about volcanoes and an ice cave and a great observation deck.

The glaciers are receding and it's depressing and dramatic but I liked this man's humorous comment

As usual, they had a restaurant,  café and gift shop. I spoke Spanish to a nice young man from Ecuador who worked in the café.

A map of volcanic activity on the island. I remember the 2010 volcanic eruption that stopped all air travel in Europe (I had a Couchsurfing guest who couldn't get home to his wife about to give birth) but there were quite a few other eruptions that year.

I liked the airport's poster on their water. Stop buying fecking plastic bottles of water! The guide from the Golden Circle tour said you can drink the water ANYWHERE on the island.

I checked my backpack in (I had to take it to the Odd Sized Bags counter) and had no problem. I only waited 5 minutes for my bag in Seattle. Beware of the Charles de Gaulle Airport,  it can be trouble. Not as bad as back in July, but beware!

I returned to a box of mail! Only one personal letter, a Halloween card.

What a long trip it's been! 7.7 weeks is too long, at least at my age--I think 5 weeks would have been best. Though stuff (shite) happened,  I never got sick or injured, so it was a great trip!

Thank you for reading my blog! If you have read all 60 posts, you're a real trooper! Either that or you have to get a life. 😉
