Titanic Belfast

Triumphant yet tragic, the Titanic! I took a taxi to the exhibit (the driver kindly advised me to check online banking for a train ticket I might have mistakenly purchased) and I spent four hours there when I was expecting to spend two, tops!

Outside is like a ship

Titania

Hard life of the Titanic workers, especially women and children and especially Catholic workers

Menu (first class passengers)

Films, a slow ride through a mockup of what the builders faced, it took a long time and there were a lot of people (a few of us wearing masks)! And then there was the gift shop and two restaurants.

Walking to the City Centre, I came across another GOT feature called Glass of Thrones:

It was too late for their tour but I was in time to see City Hall and its exhibits and (more) stained glass!

Spanish Civil War volunteers from Ireland

Great Hunger (also called Great Famine--and genocide)

There is usually meaning behind the names

Finally, I made it to the Linen Hall Library (founded in 1788) near City Hall which had a small exhibit area

  1. I did not know that the Titanic was built in Ireland! And I’ve never thought about the workers who built and ran the ship. That building gives a sense of the vastness of the ship. And the glass art - stunning. Noemie
