Demo and history

Today I didn't feel well and stayed at Rita's until about 11:30. We made an electrolyte drink for me after I at some aloe vera (she has some admirable plants in front of her house) and advised me to eat chicken soup but not before an hour had passed. There is an herbal for digestive problems popular in this country for years but where to get it?

Finally I felt well enough to walk to the Museum of Costa Rican History.  But at the plaza where the museum is a demonstration for women's rights was taking place. There were 5 or so police and lots of ugly graffiti on the walls. It is so hard to understand chants in another language but a young woman told me some woman was being mistreated by police and also it was about abortion rights.

The Museum was great and had nice bathrooms 🙄. This was the breakdowns for admission: no discount for senior extranjeros!

When you first entered the museum there was a gorgeous butterfly sanctuary!

I enjoyed the museum but there were precious few places to sit.

When I was about to leave,  a downpour began. I was determined to walk to a restaurant called Sopitas (soups) but I got soaked. I arrived and found out it was a vegan restaurant.  I got a squash soup, called Uber and had my first disagreeable driver, a man who called me "mi amor" when he wouldn't let me open the window more than a crack and told me it was raining. Really? It's weird to have to sit in the front seat.

(I'm sorry about the quality of the photos. My new phone seems to take worse photos.)
P.S. My new phone had plastic film on the camera aperture.  Damn, at least I found out before TOO long! Photos will be better now! Must be what it's like to have cataracts.

  1. Sue Ann here (I see I am listed as “Anonymous.”). I’m waking up on some other time zone schedule, so I decided to check out your blog. You are doing some interesting things and having unique experiences! I’m with you on the quality of a museum being compromised if there aren’t enough places to sit!
