First day of my trip to la pura vida
Today is the day! But I arrive tomorrow (the 6th) so that means I probably will be tired my first day. I guess the flight from LA to San Jose counts as a "red eye".
I am mildly excited. Costa Rica is raved about so the bar feels high. And traveling, especially at this age, is very tiring. Whine, whine. In this age of climate change and a pandemic I will feel lucky if there is no hurricane or flood or Covid to wreck my plans. "Life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans!" (John Lennon? Mary Worth comic strip?)
As usual, I am excited to speak Spanish. Since I have been speaking a lot more than usual because of hanging out with Fernando (his English is worse than my Spanish so we mostly speak Spanish), I don't feel too rusty or nervous about my fluency.
When I arrive tomorrow (inshallah), it will be exactly a year since I went to Ireland. I was more excited then: to meet relatives, see where half my grandparents were from, to meet cousins!
This trip will be a combination of seeing a friend (from KCLS days) and another friend in Arizona on the way back home, taking a 2 week tour, seeing a dentist and being on my own for about 18 days of the almost 6 weeks!

Great photo of you my friend
