Jade Museum, National Theater
This morning I went to a free Zumba class with my Airbnb host, Rita. We walked there. It was held in a children's library next to a park and playground. I still have Covid jitters and asked for windows to be opened.
Then I went back to the house, got ready to go out, and couldn't get the key to open the gate though I had done it before. Rita came back from the funeral of a friend who just died 2 days ago and opened the gate. I have 4 keys for just this Airbnb to carry around. High security!
It took me a long time, with lunch along the way, but I walked to the center with most of the museums. I bought some peanuts for a young woman with a few kids on the pedestrian street and was asked to buy eyeglass chords from a nice woman who liked the color of my eyes. There was lots of shouting from street vendors but not many street performers. I liked the elegant sign by the grates:
I went on a tour of the Teatro Nacional en español. Very pretty but I couldn't help but compare it to the amazing opera house in Paris, Palais Garnier, that I saw last year!
The two tour guides were actors.
I then went to what may be the most expensive museum in Costa Rica, the Jade Museum, which cost $29 for foreigners. It was a very nice museum but overpriced (Rita thought it cost $11 but maybe that is the price for Costa Ricans).
P.S. I came "home" and looked at my receipt. They charged me 9,600 colones which is only about $18. Not quite so bad!

Can I have a floor like this?
There was a gallery of art by an Ecuadorian artist, Nelsoon Román, which I liked:
Despite the high admission price, you still couldn't put the t.p. in the toilet.
The park next door to the museum had some interesting graffiti.
I went to a supermarket on the same block as the Jade Museum and an American woman in line behind me complained about Costa Rica because her "card" (I guess she meant credit card) wouldn't work. She had very bad manners! The cashier was very patient with her. I wasn't proud to meet another Estadounidense.

What a fun blog post, Carla. I love that jade floor. And the vulva la revolución graffiti is fantastic.
