Tour group starts

This morning after breakfast I went to the hotel pool but it felt too cool to go in the water. I hadn't slept well and lay in the raised bed (?) for a while.

Finally I felt more energetic and went to the Parque La Sabana, the city's biggest park, a 10 minute walk. But on the way I passed a dentist and walked in and got my front tooth's temporary crown improved a lot for $50.
I hadn't noticed this sculpture by the art museum of a menorah. It is a Lubavitch donation, perhaps, and talks about the universal value of being free.

The park was nice and full of people. Groups of young people had stations connected to their church and seemed to be having a lot of fun, each station representing a different country. Here were the girls with Ireland as their focus:

I enjoyed seeing sculptures,  some interesting birds and beautiful trees.

Then I once again went to the art museum.  There was a workshop on making "Libro art".

Harold Fonseca who was Costa Rican but he lived a long time in the U.S. so most of his art is there

Then I had an arepa and a smoothie at a nearby Venezuelan restaurant.  Then I walked 15 minutes to the Jewish cemetery but it was closed (maybe being a Saturday).

Tired, I went back to the pool and after an hour I met 3 German speaking women from my tour! Two are Swiss, one is German, and there are only 8 of us. At 6:00 we got together for our briefing and a Swiss man and Portuguese man joined us. Daniel, the Costa Rican guide, seems really nice. And I might not even be the oldest (the Swiss man might be older or maybe he is my age)!

And to end this post, a photo of a tree, perhaps a ficus macrophylla, on the same block as the hotel. It's sad that people leave garbage among its magnificent roots (?).

    1. Yes, it is book art. There were some beautiful samples on the table but it looked like the class was doing what I did for my comic book class.
