Grassmarket scone

Today Olga and I took the bus to the Old Town. First we went Victoria Street where the crowds gathered at the store selling Harry Potter swag.

Then on to the Grassmarket area where they used to execute criminals. The pub called The Last Drop (whose meaning is ambiguous):  https://www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/restaurants/scotlandandnorthernireland/thelastdropgrassmarketedinburgh

I had my first scone of the trip (yummy, halved, toasted, butter and jam) and went to the National Museum of Scotland briefly (free). Here's its great hall.

Then on to the National Galleries. We saw paintings of all periods but just covered the first floor. I particularly liked the huge 4 panel embroidery by Phoebe Anna Traquair (who is Irish).

Then I went to Pret a Manger for a quick sandwich (Olga said I was like a bottomless pit!) and Olga went home. I visited the Palestine Museum (small art museum) which just opened in May. There's one near New Haven, CT! The art was interesting, and, of course, upsetting. But the virtual reality show (from 2021) was great!
