Arrival in Stirling
Today was an aggravating day of travel by bus. What would have taken 2 hours 10 minutes by car took from 9:45 to 4:30 by bus. It didn't help that Google Maps said there would be a bus to transfer to that would take me to Stirling. And then I missed my bus because I had to use the loo (change machine to get 30 pence, then need help with getting my suitcase through the turnstile). The woman at the information booth said the bus departure was announced on the "tannoy" (some word meaning loudspeaker). Even a native probably has trouble understanding those announcements, much less a foreigner like me!
So I had to wait an hour, no big deal. And then I had trouble finding the guest house. I asked 4 people. Now I know why they call it the "Lost Guest House"! One of my bus drivers said I should delete Google Maps because of all tge errors it makes!
It seems nice though the man at the desk was a wee too talkative (I think a lot of the Scottish men talk a lot); they offer hot breakfast for £8, a lot less than the £21.5 at the fancy hotel I was just in.
Stirling looks charming so far!
